2010 Murder Mystery

It was a night of murder, clues, sleuthing, food and fellowship.

Jane Richart - Your Hostess

Bob and Jane Richart (the Host and Hostess) are members of the Chow Hounds Supper Club.  They wanted to have a Murder Mystery night, and everyone had a great time.

Did he do it?

The fellowship was awesome!

Now everyone is gathered in the foyer learning about the other characters.

Happy 80th Birthday!

Happy Birthday to You!  Happy Birthday to You!

It was a great day for Marilyn Gordon of Carthage, Missouri. Saturday October 23, 2010.

The trees were starting to turn colors and the leaves were falling, fast.

The red Maple is named after the owners wife, Jane.

Well let's go inside, there has been a lot of work done to make this a very special day.

Mrs. Gordon was a teacher, so her daughter thought the old teachers desk would be a neat registration table.  Everyone who entered was able to share a memory.

There was also a photo album on the desk, it was very special.

The living room was all set for folks to eat and visit.

This painting was signed by the artist, Lowell Davis.
It is of the Mark Twain Elementary school where Mrs. Gordon
taught for over 20 years.

Mrs. Gordon's daughters wanted to give the place a homey feeling so they brought some of her collections to use as decorations.  She collects Elephants all kinds of dolls, and teachers stuff.

                                                                                      This was on the desk.

FOOD ! FOOD! FOOD!

                                                                          Your caterer for the evening.
She started at 9am, what a trooper!

She put on quite a spread.  It was very nice and everyone enjoyed it.  The fire was nice too!
Didn't that punch table turn out nice!

When it came time to pick Mrs. Gordon up, she was at home getting ready to go on some errands.  Her daughter showed up and told her to go get dressed they were going to take her to a new place to eat.  When they showed up, Mrs. Gordon said, "This looks like someones house".

Boy was she surprised to find out that all these folks were here to celebrate her Birthday.

There was lots of visiting to do.  Many local folks and relatives from several states.

I think the best part was the Family photo.

It definetely was a day to remember.

Thank you Mrs. Gordon and family for letting us be part of this very special day.  God bless you all!

Take a little tour with us

Let’s take a little tour!

Lowell and Laura Lane, your host.

The foyer is a wonderful place to great your guest, use as an overflow for the dining room, or use for a display area. The room features white Alabama Marble flooring and a beautiful staircase… perfect for your bride to come down.

The living room is our formal meeting room. It is large enough for a speaker and will seat up to 50. It is perfect for a small wedding… Bob and Jane Richart the owners told me they were married in front of the fireplace and it was perfect.

The dining room can accomodate 2 for a candle light dinner by the fire, or a group of 16.  For larger groups we can overflow into the foyer, we can seat up to 50 for a meal.

The master bedroom we refer to the UPPER ROOM.  This self contained room is great for your next private meeting, bible study, overnight lock in, or all night crop.  Room has private bath, fireplace, and a refreshment nook in the closet area.

Well I hope this little tour gave you enough of a taste that you would like to come and see us and take a real tour.

The Gathering Place...a Miracle in the Making

The Gathering Place is a miracle in the making. My husband, Lowell, and I have been caretakers for an estate just south of Carthage, Missouri since September 2009. Lowell and I have been praying for months about how The Big House could be used. It's big, beautiful, and spacious. The owners, the Richarts, just want to see it cared for and enjoyed. After much prayer, Lowell talked with Mr. Richart about using the house for events such as weddings, retreats, birthday parties, reunions, business meetings, and church activities. Mr. Richart agreed; and, the two came to arrangements.

Now we had a vision, a gathering place, and little money. So, we waited, talked and prayed. After many months, God stepped in and started making things happen. This blog will tell the story as well as give information about what we have to offer and the special events we have planned.

If you're in the Carthage area, call (417) 358-0963 to arrange a tour and discuss how we can help you make your next event memorable.

Our next big event will be a Holiday Craft Show.

It will be on Saturday, November 13 from 9:00 am to 5 pm.

We're seeking vendors of handcrafted items.

Tables will be only $20 with lunch available for just $5 per person. Just give us a call. We'd love to talk with you.

God bless!
